Thermal Insulation for the roof
Page 2

Valuable living space is created when attic areas are professionally finished. However, in order to ensure healthy and comfortable living under the roof, the construction work calls for special detail solutions. An important aspect here is the presence of an adequately dimensioned insulating layer. On very sunny summer days, the living areas under the roof should not become unbearably hot whereas in the winter, the thermal insulation must limit the amount of costly heating energy that is lost.

Thermal insulation over the rafters

A desirable approach from the building physics point of view consists of laying the NeoporŪ insulation panels over the rafters, in the so-called over-rafter or roof shell system.

Advantages of NeoporŪ insulation laid over the rafters:

  • continuous insulating layer without thermal bridges;
  • protection of the load-bearing structure;
  • no moisture problems caused by vapor diffusion and condensation;
  • additional protection against rain, drifting snow and wind;
  • the roof structure can remain exposed
  • no loss of space in the attic
